Bruce Campbell teases new Evil Dead movies every two to three years with “Well, Hello Mr. Fancy Pants!”

  • More Evil Dead movies are planned for release every couple of years
  • Bruce Campbell will continue serving as a producer but will not return as Ash Williams
  • Evil Dead Rise was a box office success and well-received despite the absence of Ash

It’s clear that the Evil Dead film franchise remains strong over four decades since the original 1981 movie. Bruce Campbell, who plays the unforgettable protagonist Ash Williams, and the franchise’s creator Sam Raimi, plan to release more Evil Dead films every couple of years, according to an exclusive interview with Collider.

Campbell said, “We’re going to do them probably more like every two to three years now, rather than every 10 years. But, hey, we’ve seen with Star Wars — you don’t want to wear people out. Keep them guessing! We never wore out our welcome with Evil Dead because we never choked them.”

From 2015 to 2018, Campbell reprised his role as Ash in the popular Starz series, Ash vs Evil Dead. It followed the 2013 Evil Dead reimagining, which featured Campbell as Ash in the post-credits scene. However, fans shouldn’t expect to see him in the new films, as Campbell confirmed that Ash will not be returning to the Evil Dead.

Despite the absence of Ash, Evil Dead Rise (2023) became a box office hit, grossing $146.7 million worldwide. It received an 84% Tomatometer rating and a “B” CinemaScore, which is excellent for a horror film. Audiences were pleased with its darker tone and thought it was a worthy addition to the franchise. Fans can currently stream or binge-watch Evil Dead Rise on Max, while those new to the series can find an introduction to Ash’s battle against dark forces in JoBlo Horror Originals.
