Godzilla and Kong Turned into Gangsters with Guns in AI-Generated Fan Art

  • Kong now has a bionic arm in the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
  • Fan art on social media features Godzilla and Kong with heavy artillery
  • The movie delivers intense monster-on-monster action without the finesse of Toho’s recent film

In the unusual world of the MonsterVerse, the upcoming film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire showcases Kong with a bionic arm. Notably different from Toho’s recent release, Godzilla Minus One, which stuck to the customary kaiju-destroying-city narrative, some fans have taken the concept a step further. Social media is now buzzing with fan art depicting Godzilla and Kong equipped with heavy firepower.

As strange as it may appear, two social media users have shared artwork portraying Godzilla and Kong as armed mercenaries. The first user, jblazexx, posted a collection of AI-generated images featuring Godzilla with an assortment of heavy artillery. Another Reddit post included AI images of Kong armed with guns in various settings, such as Skull Island’s jungle and skyscraper rooftops.

After an immensely successful run with Godzilla Minus One in 2023, the MonsterVerse versions of Godzilla and Kong are set to return to the big screen this year, continuing the success of the franchise and Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. In Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the two titans will join forces to confront a new threat: Skar King, a creature larger and more powerful than any preceding titan.

Although details about the upcoming film are scarce, director Adam Wingard promises plenty of intense monster-on-monster clashes. While lacking the sophistication of Toho’s latest Godzilla film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is expected to deliver a thrilling, action-packed blockbuster experience. The movie is scheduled for release on April 12, 2024, with the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters finale airing this week. Meanwhile, Godzilla Minus One is expected to be available on VOD services soon, though no streaming home has been announced as of now.
