Well-known action movie star, Jackie Chan, is set to play a fictionalized version of himself in Panda Plan, an upcoming action-comedy where he uses his skills to save a rare baby panda kidnapped from China’s Noah Zoo. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the movie would make its sales debut at the American Film Market in Los Angeles. Directed by Zhang Luan and produced by Mandarin Motion Pictures and Wishart Media Co., the film is the perfect project for Chan, combining his martial arts abilities with comedy.
The plot centers around a baby panda with a dark circle around one eye, becoming a global sensation after being born at China’s Noah Zoo. An international tycoon dispatches mercenaries to kidnap the zoo’s baby pandas, forcing Chan’s character to get involved in the rescue mission. Mandarin Motion Pictures describes the storyline as “a thrilling and hilarious panda defense battle.”
Co-starring in Panda Plan are Shi Ce, Wei Xiang, and Han Yanbo. Apart from this project, Chan has an eventful year ahead with movies such as Kung Fu Panda 4, The Diary, Home Operation, New Police Story 2, and the much-anticipated Rush Hour sequel, Rush Hour 4. Chan received critical acclaim for his voice role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem earlier this year, and a sequel is currently in development.
