Arnold Schwarzenegger initially disliked one of his most acclaimed films, and James Cameron has shed light on the reasons behind it.
Cameron revealed that Arnold wasn’t a fan of “The Terminator” at first because he thought it was too dark and gritty. He believed audiences wouldn’t connect with such a bleak story. But as time passed, Arnold’s perspective shifted, and he began to appreciate the film’s unique qualities.
Interestingly, I think it’s common for people to change their minds about things over time.
In an interview, Cameron shared that Arnold had concerns about playing a villain. He felt it might harm his image as a hero in other movies. However, Cameron convinced him by explaining how the character would become iconic. And indeed, the role turned out to be one of Arnold’s most memorable performances.
Sometimes, it’s funny how our initial reactions can be so different from our later opinions.
