James Gunn, the director of the Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG) series, has recently unveiled the story behind the first use of the F-word in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Gunn, who is well known for maintaining secrecy around his projects, shared this newfound information about the swearing incident that occurred in GOTG Vol. 3.
A fan of the franchise asked James Gunn if it was true that the first F-bomb in the MCU was dropped by accident during the filming of GOTG Vol. 3. Gunn replied to the fan on Twitter, confirming the incident and further divulging some details: “Yes. The first MCU F-bomb was from Cheddar, who wasn’t even an actor but the sound guy who fell over during a take and screamed it out. He soon became part of the Ravagers.”
It seems that the sound guy, Cheddar, accidentally stumbled and screamed the F-word during a take. As a consequence, Cheddar was turned into one of the Ravagers – a group of space pirates led by Yondu Udonta in the GOTG franchise. Despite Gunn’s proclivity to keep details of his projects hidden, this revelation adds an amusing piece of trivia for Marvel and GOTG fans.
