Action star Jason Statham is known for doing his own stunts, and this dedication extends to the art of beekeeping. While filming his upcoming movie The Beekeeper, Statham learned how to work with bees, impressing both the director and the crew. According to director David Ayer, Statham’s desire to interact with the bees and learn from an actual beekeeper demonstrated a unique affinity not only for action sequences, but for the ‘Zen’ of beekeeping as well.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Ayer revealed that the crew initially laughed at the prospect of Statham working with real bees. However, the action star was determined and ended up not getting stung once during the process. Ayer, on the other hand, mentioned that he got stung “pretty bad.”

The Beekeeper, set to be released in January 2024, stars Statham as a man with a mysterious past and a talent for beekeeping. The film features a star-studded cast, including Minnie Driver, Josh Hutcherson, and Jeremy Irons. In addition to The Beekeeper, Statham is also slated to work with fellow Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone in the upcoming action thriller Levon’s Trade, which is set to begin filming in March 2024 in London.
