Kingsman 3 in progress, confirmed by Matthew Vaughn: ‘Currently being worked on’

  • Matthew Vaughn confirms Kingsman 3 is in development, with hopes to release it soon
  • The film will focus on the relationship between Eggsy and Harry, exploring the possible outcomes of their bond
  • Vaughn is also working on Argylle, a meta take on the spy genre with an A-list cast, set for a 2024 release

Filmmaker Matthew Vaughn has announced that Kingsman 3 is currently in the works and he hopes to release the film as soon as possible. While speaking at the New York Comic Con, Vaughn discussed his plans for Kingsman 3, sharing that he is eager to complete the project before the actors become too old for their roles.

Vaughn said, “We’ve got to get on with Kingsman 3 because I was joking that Colin [Firth] is going to end up being a portrait on the side while Taron is Arthur. So we are working on that at the moment.” The first Kingsman movie, The Secret Service, premiered in 2014 and was based on a comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. The film received praise for its thrilling action, classic spy theme, and captivating performances; however, its sequel, The Golden Circle, did not achieve the same level of success.

Although specific details about Kingsman 3 remain scarce, Vaughn has mentioned that the film will focus on the relationship between Eggsy and Harry. He explained, “Eggsy and Harry [will be in it], obviously. But it’s the gang coming back together and it’s one of those moments that…when we wrote the screenplay, it was very much about, okay, I saw how people loved the relationship of Eggsy and Harry. So we just came up with this thing, what could be the ultimate reason for them to either fall in love or to hate each other forever? So that’s what this movie is all about is will they or won’t they, let’s just say.”

Aside from Kingsman 3, Vaughn will also delve into the world of spies with his upcoming project, Argylle. This film offers a meta take on the spy genre and stars Henry Cavill as the central character, Argylle, alongside singer and actress Dua Lipa. Argylle boasts an impressive cast, including Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, and more. The movie is slated for release in the United States on February 2, 2024, by Universal Pictures and will also be available for streaming on Apple TV+.
