Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin shared a funny incident where he convinced his son that he was the child in the classic holiday film. Culkin spoke with ET during his Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony, where he recounted the prank he played on his oldest son.

“I already showed [Home Alone] to him last year, he thinks it’s so funny. I convinced my oldest that he’s the kid in the movie. I said, ‘Remember you had yellow hair? Remember when you were getting the bad guys?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah!’ He is such a liar. I’m like, ‘You don’t remember any of that.'”

Home Alone, released in 1990, was directed by Chris Columbus and written and produced by John Hughes. The movie, along with its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, have become holiday favorites for many people.

After starring in Home Alone and other films like Uncle Buck and My Girl in his younger years, Macaulay Culkin was recently awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Culkin’s Home Alone co-star, Catherine O’Hara, reunited with him in Los Angeles for the occasion.

Regarding his Hollywood Walk of Fame induction, Culkin said his family, especially his wife and sons, were “the whole reason to do this.” He added, “It’s the reason pretty much to do anything now.”

Macaulay Culkin has recently appeared in American Horror Story: Double Feature, The Righteous Gemstones, and Kid Cudi’s adult animated music television special Entergalactic.
