- The film will bring back familiar characters from the Deadpool universe, introduce new ones, and delve deeper into the multiverse than Doctor Strange 2.
Deadpool 3 has already begun filming, and leaked set images have quickly made their way onto the internet. Actor Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, has issued a plea to fans and websites to avoid sharing images that could spoil the upcoming movie.
Reynolds posted a statement on his Instagram Reels, which was also endorsed by his movie buddy, Hugh Jackman. The statement reads:
“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies.
It’s important for us to shoot the new DEADPOOL film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone.
Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready. The film is built for audience joy – and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the “good problems” bucket.
I love making this movie.”
Since the announcement of Deadpool 3 entering production and Hugh Jackman joining the cast, the film has become one of the most talked-about MCU projects since Spider-Man: No Way Home. Deadpool 3 will be a multiverse-spanning adventure, featuring the R-rated humor and violence that made the first two movies such hits. Marvel Studios hopes that the combined popularity of Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine can carry the franchise through to 2025.
Returning cast members include Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and canine actor Peggy as Dogpool. Other returning Deadpool universe characters are Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, and Rob Delaney as Peter. Newcomers confirmed for the movie include Matthew Macfadyen and Emma Corrin, who will reportedly play the movie’s villain.
While the plot of Deadpool 3 is being kept under wraps, the movie is said to delve deeper into the multiverse than even Doctor Strange 2. Director Shawn Levi has noted that the film will be a “love-letter” to the Fox universe and honor its legacy. Deadpool 3 will hit cinemas on July 26, 2024.
