Terrifier 3 Poster Indicates Christmas Horror Theme in Upcoming Sequel

  • Horror sequel Terrifier 3 will have a Christmas theme, featuring Art the Clown haunting the holiday season.
  • Director Damien Leone aims to make Terrifier 3 the scariest film in the franchise.
  • Leone has teased that the fourth Terrifier installment might be the last in the series.

Terrifier 3, the upcoming horror sequel, takes on a Christmas theme, as revealed by its new teaser poster. Art the Clown will be back to terrorize the holiday season, making the film a fitting addition to fans’ Christmas lists. The poster, shown in the Daily Mail, features Art the Clown wearing a Santa hat while wielding an axe and standing in front of a Christmas tree.

The first Terrifier film, released in 2016, reintroduced viewers to Art the Clown, who originally appeared in a 2011 short film and the 2013 horror anthology All Hallows’ Eve. The first movie saw Tara Heyes (Jenna Kanell) and her sister Victoria (Samantha Scaffidi) trying to escape a mysterious serial killer on Halloween night. The second Terrifier film expanded on the franchise’s mythology and increased the blood and gore quotient.

Both movies were written and directed by Damien Leone, with Terrifier 2 receiving high praise from critics and becoming a must-watch for horror fans. The synopsis for Terrifier 2 reads, “After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to the timid town of Miles County where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.”

Terrifier 3 will introduce supernatural elements and a mystical sword as the mystery of Art the Clown deepens the bloodshed. It’s unclear exactly how Christmas will play a role in Terrifier 3, but the poster’s imagery suggests that the holiday season will be far from cheery. A teaser for Terrifier 3 is set to debut alongside the theatrical re-release of Terrifier 2, and according to Leone, it is “over 2 minutes long” and fans will “love it.”

Leone, who is writing and directing Terrifier 3, has expressed his intentions for this installment to be the scariest yet, aiming to recapture the creepy atmosphere of the original short film. He says, “If all goes as planned, part 3 will be the scariest Terrifier thus far.” While the Terrifier franchise has grown in popularity, Leone does not intend for the series to continue indefinitely. He has teased that the fourth movie may be the end of the saga, stating, “We will be following [Sienna’s] journey to the end of this franchise.”

Terrifier 2 is set to be re-released in theaters on November 1, 2023.
