- Director Isaac Florentine thinks Scott Adkins should have played Batman and James Bond
- Adkins auditioned for the role in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice
- Adkins has multiple action movies in the pipeline, such as The Killing Game with Dave Bautista
Despite his roles in known productions like Doctor Strange and John Wick: Chapter 4, Scott Adkins remains relatively unnoticed as a hidden gem of the action cinema world. However, director Isaac Florentine eagerly asserts that Adkins should be more widely recognized for his talents. Florentine has directed numerous films with Adkins as the lead, including Undisputed III: Redemption, and is adamant that Adkins should have had the chance to play iconic characters like James Bond and Batman.
Florentine says, “Scott should have been James Bond, he should have been Batman. Because people will see someone who not only can act, but can move like nobody else, with no stunt guys and no doubles. He deserves to be a mainstream star.”
While it’s uncertain if Adkins has ever pursued a Bond role, he did audition for Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, using lines from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. However, this audition didn’t materialize into a role. Despite this, Adkins has long been a fan-favorite for the Batman role, largely due to his physical resemblance to the DC character and his real-life martial arts skills.
There could still be opportunity for Adkins to play one or both characters of Bond and Batman in the future. With the 007 franchise likely to reboot after Daniel Craig’s final performance in No Time to Die, and Batman scheduled for a reboot in James Gunn’s DCU movie The Brave and the Bold, the possibilities are not off the table.
Meanwhile, Adkins has a number of projects in the works, including The Killing Game alongside Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista. Other cast members include Sofia Boutella, Ben Kingsley, Pom Klementieff, Ice Cube, WWE’s Drew McIntyre, Shaina West, Lucy Cork, Daniel Bernhardt, and Lee Hoon. Directed by J.J. Perry, The Killing Game follows Bautista’s character, a veteran assassin who orders a hit on himself after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. When his diagnosis is later found to be incorrect, he must face an army of assassins trying to kill him.
In addition to The Killing Game, Adkins is set to star in Lights Out with Frank Grillo, Diablo with Marko Zaror, Take Cover, and a sequel to the 2021 action thriller One Shot, titled One More Shot.
