Zack Snyder Not Interested in Continuing Snyderverse; Netflix Executive Discusses Potential Continuation

  • Zack Snyder has confirmed he will not be pursuing the DC franchise in the future.
  • Fans are rallying for Warner Bros. to sell the franchise to Netflix so Snyder can continue his work.
  • Warner Bros. has recently agreed to license several DC movies to Netflix, but not Snyder’s version of Justice League.

Fans of Zack Snyder’s DC Universe have faced disappointment as the director has declared that his involvement in the franchise has come to an end. Despite this, Netflix’s head of film, Scott Stuber, hopes to bring Snyder’s whole DC world to Netflix in some capacity.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stuber mentioned that it would be “tricky” to develop anything new within the Snyderverse, but they could potentially license the rest of Snyder’s movies, saying, “Obviously we would like to license it at some point. We’d love to have it on so that fans can experience more Zack. The more Zack we have the better we are.”

Although rumors have circulated about Warner Bros. Pictures potentially being sold off, it is clear that Snyder’s current priorities lie elsewhere. When asked about his future involvement in the DC franchise, Snyder replied, “That’s true.”

Fans are still hopeful that the franchise can find a new home on Netflix, as Zack Snyder has an existing relationship with the streaming platform through his Army of The Dead franchise and the upcoming Rebel Moon. Nevertheless, it has become clear that director James Gunn does not intend to continue with Snyder’s original vision for the interconnected DC franchise.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has come to an agreement to license titles from the DCEU to Netflix. Starting in December, fans will be able to stream 12 DC titles including Man of Steel, The Suicide Squad, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Wonder Woman. However, the collection will feature the original Joss Whedon cut of Justice League, not the Snyder Cut of the movie.

Other movies coming to Netflix this winter include Wonder Woman: 1984, Shazam!, Birds of Prey, Suicide Squad, Dc League of Super-Pets, The Batman, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. It is also expected that recent movies such as Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will arrive on the platform at some point in the future.
