Overview

Monty Brogan saves and befriends a dog after the animal is badly mauled in a dogfight. Several years later, Brogan is sitting in a park with the dog, whom he has named Doyle, contemplating his final day of freedom before beginning a seven-year sentence for drug dealing. He plans to spend the day with his two best friends, Frank and Jacob, and his girlfriend, Naturelle. First, he visits his father, James, where Monty confronts his demons and expresses his regrets for his actions and how they will affect the people in his life. James, who will be driving Monty to prison the next day, tries to present one last opportunity to escape, but Monty tells him that he must accept the consequences of his actions and do what he must. He simply asks that James continue to care for Doyle in his absence.
