A Mighty Heart is based on the personal history of Mariane Pearl in her memoir chronicling when her journalist husband Daniel Pearl was killed chasing a story in the Middle East. The movie is fraught with tension and intrigue as Daniel, a writer for the Wall Street Journal, is abducted and later brutally murdered by Pakistani militants. Marine is pregnant at the time and sets out to find the truth of her husband’s murder. The story continues as the violence and danger of the post-9/11 world complicates and informs Mariane’s search for the truth.
