Overview

A dark-haired young woman survives an attempted murder via car accident on Mulholland Drive and develops amnesia. She eventually stumbles into an apartment. Meanwhile, an aspiring actress, Betty, arrives at the same apartment belonging to her aunt in Los Angeles. She believes the dark-haired woman, who introduces herself as Rita, to be a friend of her aunt’s. Pursuing a fragment of Rita’s memory of the name Diane Selwyn, the two women track down Diane Selwyn’s address where they find a woman’s body. Rita vanishes, and Betty awakes as failed actress Diane Selwyn setting a new story in motion. The truth is far stranger and more convoluted than either of the women could have imagined when they set out to solve the mystery of Rita’s identity.
