Overview

Mirabelle is a lonely, depressed artist working the gloves counter at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. Jeremy is a penniless, immature graphic designer and aspiring typographer. One day, he and Mirebelle meet at the laundromat. Mirabelle, desperate, gives Jeremy a chance. They go on a disastrous date Mirabelle pays for. They have a disappointing sexual encounter. Roy, a divorced rich man, enchants Mirabelle over the gloves counter. They have a few dates and become intimate. Ray merely wants something casual, but Mirabelle believes otherwise. They begin an ongoing love affair full of expensive gifts but no affection. Meanwhile, Jeremy embarks on a self improvement regimen. When Ray is unfaithful to Mirabelle, she reunites with Jeremy at an art gallery. They eventually fall in love.
