Overview

Jack Stark, a veteran of the first Gulf War, returns home to the States, where he is recovering from a near-fatal head injury. While hitchhiking along a country road, he comes across a young girl and her strung-out mother Jackie, and helps the pair get their malfunctioning vehicle back on the road. For the first time in a while, Stark finds himself useful, but his life takes a sinister turn when he is implicated in the shooting death of a traffic cop. He escapes the charges by pleading insanity, then finds himself undergoing a strange psychiatric treatment that allows him to travel 15 years into the future, where he encounters Jackie working at a roadside diner. Although Jackie is friendly enough, she reveals that he can’t possibly be who he claims to be, as the real Jack Starks died long ago, on that fatal day.
